A self-mailer is a type of direct mail that is used for promotional marketing purposes and mailed without an envelope. A self-mailer can be a simple postcard, a catalogue, or a brochure that is folded any number of ways and sealed at the edge(s).
Starting 2021, Lob introduced self-mailers as a new form factor that can be sent programmatically through our API and dashboard, the folded self-mailer. We currently support three size permutations: 6x18”(horizontal), 12x9” (vertical), and 11x9” (vertical) bifold self-mailers. The panels of the folded self-mailers will be sealed together by an adhesive zone, as shown in this diagram below.
Folded self-mailers are only available to our Enterprise Edition customers. We may explore expanding our self-mailer offerings with more sizes or fold permutations in the future. We do not offer HIPAA-compliant self-mailers at this time, and self-mailers do not have envelopes, by definition.
